Tina and Anne were born 5000 kilometers apart. Tina is from the United States, and Anne is from Spain. Their lives intersected four years ago at a dance competition, where they fell in love at first sight. On June 15, 2017, they held a civil wedding ceremony and threw a celebration party in September of the same year.
In May of last year, their daughter, Elle, was born in the U.S. through assisted reproduction, and the two women became mothers. Both moms feel that the U.S. is a beautiful and LGBTQ-friendly country, and they view assisted reproduction as an altruistic act. A year ago, they were fortunate enough to find an experienced surrogate through an assisted reproduction consultant in the U.S., and they created an embryo through sperm donation. They then underwent the embryo transfer in July 2019. For Tina and Anne, building their family through assisted reproduction was very important, and they are overjoyed to be Elle’s mothers.
The First Month After Birth
For the first six weeks after Elle’s birth, Tina and Anne stayed in Los Angeles to bond with their daughter and adjust to their new roles as moms. During Elle’s first month, they lived in a postpartum care center, where a nanny guided them through everything from feeding and burping to cleaning and swaddling.
Now back in their home in Barcelona, Spain, Tina and Anne are eager to see how their city will welcome their new family of three. The U.S. will always hold a special place in the hearts of these two moms, as it was there that they made their dream of motherhood come true.
